Mission

Most people living in Switzerland without permanent status are obliged by law to leave Switzerland. This includes, for example, rejected asylum seekers and undocumented migrants. They have no prospects here and fear that once they return to their country of origin, they will fall back into the same desperate situation that drove them to migrate. Those who meet the criteria established by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) on the basis of the Law on Asylum (LAsi) are assisted in their return. However, a significant number of vulnerable migrants do not receive anything. This is where the association “Reintegration in the country of origin”, with its many years of experience, comes into play. In cooperation with the International Social Service (SSI), it enables people who wish to return to take their future into their own hands.

We advise these people before their departure in their search for career prospects and training opportunities, accompany and coach them locally after their return and allocate an appropriate financial contribution to the project.

All our projects are evaluated and monitored. We publish successes and failures in our annual report. We invest in people, not in structures.

Our program is entirely financed by private funds. Administrative costs are low. We guarantee transparent budgeting and accounting. The ISS that handles the operational management of our activities is ZEWO-certified

We are very grateful to our current and future donors, without whose help the association “Reintegration in the country of origin” could not achieve its goals.

Reintegration in the country of origin

VARIOUS PROJECTS

The projects supported by “Reintegration in the country of origin” are commercial, artisanal or training projects. The only prerequisites are: to have the appropriate skills and to be able to work independently. We support candidates in acquiring additional qualifications if necessary.

We operate in more than 70 developing countries. In addition to in-depth advice and coaching, we provide targeted financial support for individual projects ranging from CHF 500 to 5,000.

NEW: WOMEN/MOTHERS IN DETENTION PROJECT

This project is aimed at vulnerable women in detention who will have to return to their country of origin upon their release (with or without children in Switzerland or in the country of return). The objective is to help them reintegrate in their country of origin in a dignified manner. A reintegration project is set up, but the situation in a broader context is then taken into account, particularly with regard to children.

The preparation before return is more sustained, as well as the accompaniment of the partner on the spot, in order to reduce the risk of recurrence as much as possible.
